UNDP is the UN's global development network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in 166 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. As they develop local capacity, they draw on the people of UNDP and our wide range of partners.

Issue to be debated in the UNDP at SzeMUN 2012:
Stabilizing South-Sudan
The newest Member State emerged from years of crises, grieved by civil war. Now is the time of rebuilding and founding a country based on the rule of law and democracy, thus contributing to the stability of the region as a whole. With vast oil reserves, the country can easily become the target of external interest, it is therefore urgent to establish a secure state, alongside the needed infrastructure.
Many know, that this is not an easy task, consequently the help of the UN is essential. The aftermaths of the civil war are still present, as there are many child soldiers left, and the population is gravely impoverished. Unselfish assistance is to be provided, if we desire peace and prosperity in this young state.
